Yuku Fm

Period:
Neoproterozoic

Age Interval:
Late Sinian (late Ediacaran), Z (29)

Province:
Henan

Type Locality and Naming

North Qinling Mts (southwest Henan). The Yuku Fm was named by the Third Geological Party of Henan Bureau of Geology (1978), which was published by the Henan Compiling Group for the Regional Stratigraphical Scale (1979), the Regional Stratigraphic Scale of North China. The type section is located in Yuku valley area, Luanchuan County, Henan Province.

Synonym: (鱼库组)

Lithology and Thickness

The Yuku Fm is mainly composed of thick-bedded dolomitic marble with quartzite and biotite sericite quartz schist. There is a basal layer of conglomerate about 3-5 m thick. The Yuku Formation is exposed over 569 m thick.

Lithology Pattern:
Dolomitic limestone

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

The basal conglomerates are conformable onto the underlying Sanchakou Formation (Sandaozhuang Formation).

Upper contact

Next higher regional unit is the Sanchuan Fm of Early Carboniferous.

Regional extent

North Qinling Mts (southwest Henan). The Yuku Formation is mainly distributed in Jiangandi, middle part of Yuku valley, Qiguzhai and Xingjiazhuang in Luanchuan County and Lushi County, Henan Province.
